Globe Life Field for Families: Kids Zone, Running the Bases and More

Globe Life Field is built for families. The Texas Rangers have filled the ballpark with activities, amenities and traditions that keep kids engaged from the first pitch to the final out, and the climate-controlled stadium means you do not have to worry about the Texas heat wearing everyone down.

Whether you are introducing your kids to baseball for the first time or bringing the whole family to the Arlington Entertainment District, here is what to know.

Kids Zone and Wiffle Ballpark

The Kids Zone presented by Primrose Schools is located on the Centerfield Upper Concourse near Section 238. It features a free Wiffle ballpark where kids can take swings and a mini playground with oversized baseball equipment for climbing.

The area is open during games and gives kids a place to burn energy without missing the ballpark atmosphere. It is one of the most popular spots for families, so arriving early is a good idea.

Running the Bases

One of the best family traditions at Globe Life Field happens after Sunday afternoon home games. Kids 14 and under are invited to run the bases on the field.

Listen for the announcement from public address announcer Chuck Morgan during the eighth inning. Bring your kids to line up behind Section 125 on the main concourse. From there, they run the bases right where the Rangers play. It is free and one of those moments kids remember long after they leave the ballpark.

Family Fun Tuesdays

Select Tuesday home games are designated Family Fun Tuesdays, presented by Coca-Cola. These games feature discounted tickets, parking, food and drinks.

Kids 13 and under can meet Rangers players at pregame autograph sessions starting at 5:30 p.m. CT. Autographs are limited to one item per player per person, with no personalization or posed photos. Due to time constraints, the line does move quickly.

Check the Rangers promotions page for the full Family Fun Tuesday schedule.

Ice Cream Sundays by Blue Bell

On every Sunday home game, kids 13 and under can get Blue Bell ice cream for $1. It is available at stands on the Lower Concourse at Sections 12 and 23, on the Main Concourse at Sections 101, 121, 123 and 130, and on the Upper Concourse at Sections 205, 213 and 237.

Pairing a $1 ice cream with running the bases makes Sunday afternoon games the best value family outing on the Rangers schedule.

Kids Tickets and Pricing

Children under 36 inches tall do not need a ticket as long as they sit on a ticket holder’s lap. Limitations apply.

Discounted tickets for kids 13 and under are available in the Grandstand Reserved seating area. One adult ticket must be purchased for every kids ticket, up to four. These discounted tickets can only be purchased in person at the box office.

Family Amenities

Nursing Rooms

Private nursing rooms (Mother’s Rooms presented by Primrose Schools) are located on the Lower Concourse (Sections 20 and 27), Main Concourse (Sections 101, 125 and 130), Bailey and Galyen Suite Level (by Guest Services) and Upper Concourse (Sections 209 and 224).

Baby-Changing Tables and Strollers

Baby-changing tables are in all restrooms at Globe Life Field, including both men’s and women’s restrooms. Family restrooms are located near most standard restrooms. Collapsible, umbrella strollers are welcome and should be stored underneath your seat.

Sensory Room

A dedicated sensory room is located just inside the Toyota Southwest Entrance for guests who feel overwhelmed or overstimulated. Ask any Guest Services representative for directions. Sensory bags with noise-canceling headphones and fidget toys are also available at Guest Services on the Main Concourse behind Section 101.

What to Bring

Families can bring outside food in a sealed, clear, quart-sized plastic bag (one per ticket) and one sealed bottle of non-flavored water up to one liter. Backpacks are prohibited, but manufactured diaper bags that meet the size restrictions (16 by 16 by eight inches) are allowed. All bags are subject to search.

Tips for Families

Arrive early. Getting to the ballpark when gates open gives you time to visit the Kids Zone and grab food before lines build.

Download the MLB Ballpark app. It helps you find restrooms, nursing rooms and concession stands. Mobile ordering lets you get food delivered to your seat.

Upper deck sections are a great option for families. Ticket prices are lower, the wide-angle view lets kids take in the full scope of the game, and the Primrose Playground is on the Upper Concourse near Section 238.

Rangers Captain, the team mascot, appears throughout the stadium during games for surprise photo opportunities.
