Bishop Street Market occupies a building that was once a Bonnie and Clyde hangout and sells local goods and vintage items. Spinster Records sells vinyl and is a neighborhood institution. Indigo 1745, We Are 1976 and Magic Hour carry locally designed clothing, home goods and gifts.

The Wild Detectives is a bookstore and bar in one, with a patio, rotating events and a community feel. The Kessler Theater hosts live music and performances.
The Texas Theatre, which opened in 1931, is where Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested on November 22, 1963, after the assassination of President Kennedy. For international visitors, this is a significant historical site that most people do not realize exists in a neighborhood setting. The theater still operates as a cinema and event venue.
Bishop Cider Co. serves hard cider in a relaxed indoor-outdoor space. Ten Bells Tavern is a neighborhood bar with cocktails and a patio. Whitehall Exchange has craft cocktails. Parker Barrow’s is a Bonnie and Clyde-themed bar that plays on the neighborhood’s outlaw history.
Weekday mornings are the most relaxed, with easy seating at coffee shops and restaurants. Weekends bring larger crowds, live music in the streets and a festival-like energy. Bishop Arts is a daytime neighborhood; the vibe winds down by 10:00 p.m. CT on most nights.
Bishop Arts is the daytime, family-friendly alternative. Deep Ellum is the nightlife and live music destination. If you have time for both, visit Bishop Arts in the morning and Deep Ellum in the evening. If you can only choose one, Bishop Arts is better for couples and families, and Deep Ellum is better for younger travelers and night owls.
